Carlisle
Rock 'n' Roll
The
Club Victoria, Victoria Place, Carlisle
Carlisle
Rock 'n' Roll Society are back up and running in the Club Victoria,
Victoria Place, Carlisle. People who remember the old society
will realise it's the same venue but very much improved!
We
have a gig at least once a month, usually on a Saturday night
but sometimes a Friday plus if Martin (who owns the club) can
get the bands travelling to and from Scotland, he will try to
book them for us. We try to keep the admission charge to £6, but
for the bigger bands we have to charge more.
Because
of the economic situation as it is, we are having to put neo and
pyschobilly bands on but we always try to play Rock 'n' Roll in
the disco - we do try to convert our pyschobilly friends! So
far this year we have King Kurt booked plus in October, Whirlwind
are playing. All
our monthly gigs are advertised in Maggie's Blue Suede News and
on our Facebook page.
I would
like to thank Martin and John, the owners of Club Victoria who
have been great supporters of the society up to now and even been
known to dance! Also, Tommy, Chris and Dan who help me out with
the disco and with the printing of the posters.
We
try to make everyone welcome, the bar is well priced and there
is even a pizza resturant just opened upstairs. We are close to
some B&Bs and very close to both the bus and train station.
If
anyone wants to get in touch, you can do either through Facebook
- I am on Facebook (Alistair Mossman) and the club is on myspace.
My mobile number is 07767 356189 - The Club Victoria phone number
is 01228 533476.
Hope
to see you soon!
The
photos are of some
of our followers at the club
plus Martin who owns it. If you publish his photo I might get
a free pint!
