Lydbrook Rock 'n' Roll Club in the Forest of Dean opened its doors for the first time on 6th April 2011. The new weekly venue is hosted by Lesley & Joe in the Lydbrook Social Club which is situated in the centre of the village.
The first night had a reasonable turnout with people from many of the surrounding villages and good support from the Gloucester Rock 'n' Roll Club. To help celebrate the opening night, the newly formed local band Rocket 56 performed songs from the 50s and early 60s. They have a very authentic sound and went down really well - finishing the night with a blinding version of 'Rock Around the Clock'!
The Lydbrook Rock 'n' Roll Club will continue every Wednesday at 7.30pm starting the evening with a basic beginners lesson to get people onto the dance floor as quickly as possible so they can enjoy an evening of popular songs from the 1950s.
Excellent facilities, great dance floor, bar, raffle and friendly people.
